Alliance Staff Pilots New Module and Trains Ambassadors at Mission Bay High School

The Climate Science Alliance team successfully pilots new Regional Impacts module and trains future Climate Kids Ambassadors at Mission Bay High School. Climate Science Alliance staff had the opportunity to engage with students at Mission Bay High School (MBHS), piloting our newest Climate Kids module on regional climate change impacts as well as inviting students to join our team at events and in classrooms as Climate Kids Ambassadors. The training was held on October 29-30 and engaged six full classes of MBHS students with science, storytelling and art activities. Alliance Director Facilitates Panel at Inaugural Southwest Adaptation Forum

Climate Science Alliance Director Dr. Amber Pairis facilitates “Adaptation Issues in Tribal Lands” panel at the inaugural Southwest Adaptation Forum, a two-day event gathering climate adaptation and assessment practitioners to find integrated, community-based adaptation stories. Dr. Amber Pairis, Director of the Climate Science Alliance and Advisor to the Center for Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, traveled to Tuscon, Arizona for the inaugural Southwest Adaptation Forum (SWAF). The San Diego Management & Monitoring Program (SDMMP) invited the Climate Science Alliance team to present findings from the recently published San Diego County Ecosystems report to inform and support regional conservation management and monitoring plans. Climate Kids - Mexico Ambassadors Lead Another Year of Successful Workshops at Expo Ambiente!

Climate Science Alliance (Alliance): What inspired you to pursue photography, and specifically, take your camera into the water with you? Will Holder (Will): Growing up in a house full of surf movies and Surfer's Journals lying around, I was constantly surrounded by new mediums and ways to document the beauty of the ocean. I'm definitely someone who would rather be behind a lens as well, so it's in a way a safety net, and really fun and rewarding to be able to capture friends or various people being really happy in the water.
