Climate Kids at Jefferson Elementary


As part of our Climate Kids program expansion to North County San Diego, the Climate Science Alliance brought marine themed programming into the 5th grade classes at Jefferson Elementary in Carlsbad. The kids explored how marine ecosystems effected by ocean warming and ocean acidificiation will have to adapt to ocean changes. Dr. Amber Pairis shared how her work as a scientist helped endemic and endangered animals and how to the three jobs of a scientist; figure out the problem, find the solution, and tell the story, can be applied in every day life choices. Kids learned how to protect the Earth, read more about climate change and share what they have learned with others. See photos of this hands on experience below.
