The Climate Science Alliance, in partnership with Ranger Alex Warneke from Cabrillo National Monument, delivered a new Climate Kids training pilot program to the education staff at the San Diego Zoo (SDZG) and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). In an effort to spread climate literacy to more people across San Diego County, the Climate Science Alliance has developed a climate change communication and education workshop for organizations to provide for their staff. These workshops offer the opportunity for an entire staff to learn the strategies and tools they need to feel comfortable integrating climate change into their existing programs. The hope for these workshops is to encourage organizations across our region to carry the climate change message, reaching broader audiences than the Alliance could alone.

Our workshop not only shares proven climate change communication and education techniques, but also delivers an interactive run through of lessons and activities that we use in our Climate Kids program. Upon completion of the workshop, each participant becomes "Climate Kids Certified" and is provided with additional resources and support from the Alliance.

We had a great time with the amazing educators from SDZG and USFWS and look forward to seeing how they become leaders in climate change education in our region.
