The Climate Science Alliance has been celebrating our 10th birthday all year long with friends old and new. As we look forward to our second decade, we are excited to share big news... we are leaving the nest and spreading our wings as our own 501(c)(3) nonprofit! Our fiscal sponsor, the California Wildlife Foundation, has graciously provided us the space to grow roots and dream bigger than we thought was possible. Because of the support from partners like you, we are entering this next chapter bold and filled with hope for a future where people and nature thrive together in a changing climate.

Support the Alliance

Your support today matters more than ever before. Become a donor today and play an integral role in sustaining our work as we honor our first decade and soar into new heights of climate hope for the decades ahead.

New charitable tax rules go into effect on January 1, 2026. To maximize your tax benefits under the current law, we encourage you to give before 2025 ends.

The California Wildlife Foundation (CWF) serves as the fiscal sponsor for the Climate Science Alliance until we officially receive our own nonprofit status. Right now, your donation directly supports the Climate Science Alliance as we step into the future. CWF is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; their Tax ID (also known as an EIN) is 68-0234744.

Our team is here to make giving easy for you. If you need assistance or have questions, contact us at info@climatesciencealliance.org

Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)

Reach out to the advisor of your Donor Advised Fund (DAF) to request a donation supporting the Climate Science Alliance.

DAFs

Bunch Gifts

By concentrating more than one year of charitable gifts into a single tax year, your total itemized deductions will be higher—and you may exceed the standard deduction as a result. If you bunch gifts through a DAF you can ensure sustained, consistent giving for two or more years while making the most of your tax benefits.

Bunch Gifts

Donate Appreciated Securities

Donating publicly traded stock, bonds, and mutual fund shares means the full fair market value of your gift is deductible as a charitable contribution up to 30% of your adjusted gross income each year when you itemize deductions. Contributions exceeding that limit can be carried forward for up to five subsequent years.

By directly giving appreciated securities through a DAF, you eliminate the capital gains tax you would otherwise incur if you sold the appreciated securities and donated what you had after-tax—potentially increasing your gift by up to 20%.

Corporate Partnerships

We are inviting companies to invest in community-led, nature-based climate solutions by sponsoring our 2026 Giving Cycle. Through our Giving program, we directly fund locally-led climate projects and leverage our own expertise and capacity to amplify our partners’ impact. These projects restore habitats, sustain cultural and ecological knowledge, protect water, land, and wildlife, and inspire stewardship across generations.

Find our information packet here if you are interested in making a corporate sponsorship or would like to share this opportunity with your employer.

Planned Giving

Setting up a legacy fund provides benefits that last beyond a lifetime. Legacy gifts can come in varying amounts and from a variety of sources including: Donor Advised Funds (DAFs), bequests by wills or living trusts, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, charitable endowments, life insurance policies, and retirement assets (e.g. IRAs).

If you have a DAF, ensure it is named in your estate plan as a gift you wish you make upon your passing.

Planned Giving

Pair Tax-Loss Harvesting with a Cash Gift

If your publicly traded securities have declined in price below their purchase price, and you sell those securities at a loss, you can offset capital gains from better-performing securities and/or up to $3,000 of ordinary taxable income. Donors who itemize their deductions can then claim a charitable deduction from tax-loss harvesting, by donating cash from the sale proceeds.

Any capital losses greater than capital gains and/or after reducing $3,000 of ordinary income can be carried forward to offset capital gains or ordinary income in future years.

Memorials and Celebrations

You can make a donation in someone’s memory, and you can also make a donation in celebration of someone’s accomplishment or honor a special occasion. We want to ensure that we honor your gift the right way—please let us know your wishes by sending us a message at info@climatesciencealliance.org
