Just in time for summer, the Attenuatas team—led by Baja Working Group member Horacio de la Cueva—received a fresh set of supplies that allowed them to return to the field and continue their restoration work.
The Attenuatas forest project focuses on restoration of the Pinus attenuata pine forest of Baja California after it was partially destroyed by a 2017 fire. Newly equipped with protective gear, tents, and tools the Attenuatas team headed back to the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir this past summer to continue this restoration effort. In assignments that last up to two nights and three days, the team works on a variety of tasks including freeing juvenile trees caught under larger dead trees that fell over after the fire, conducting erosion prevention, and maintaining trails.

Justo a tiempo para el verano, el equipo de Attenuatas—encabezado por el miembro del Baja Working Group Dr. Horacio de la Cueva—recibió una nueva entrega de suministros que les permitió regresar al campo y continuar su trabajo de restauración.
El proyecto forestal de Attenuatas se enfoca en la restauración del bosque de pino Pinus attenuata de Baja California después de su destrucción parcial por un incendio en el 2017. Nuevamente equipado con equipo protector, tiendas de campaña y herramientas, el equipo de Attenuatas regresó a la Sierra de San Pedro Mártir el verano pasado para continuar con los esfuerzos de restauración. Durante encargos tareas que duraban hasta dos días y tres noches, el equipo trabajó en varias tareas incluyendo la liberación de árboles juveniles que estaban atrapados debajo de restos de pinos muertos por el fuego, y actividades de prevención de erosión y mantenimiento de senderos.
