Welcome to Climate Kids Connects! We are so glad you are here. As you may have heard, the Earth needs our help. Our global climate is changing and this will impact our communities, both human and natural. This is a big problem and it will take all of us thinking creatively to come up with solutions. Welcome to Climate Kids Connects!
For today's edition, we will focus on a topic that is both important and delicious - our food system! When thinking about the impact of climate change on the food system, it is important to understand that the food system is complex and there are many different ways that climate change can impact and interfere. A food system includes all processes and infrastructure involved in feeding a population: growing, harvesting, processing, packaging, transporting, marketing, consumption, and disposal of food and food-related items. Our global climate and the food that we eat everyday are tightly linked.
By participating in the interactive videos and activities below, you can explore our food system and better understand how climate change will impact the food on our plate and how that food is grown and transported around the world. You will also learn about the things you can do to help support a sustainable and healthy food system now and in the future.

The Climate Science Alliance proudly partners with Coastal Roots Farm to develop materials to support community outreach on food systems and climate change. The Climate Science Alliance team worked alongside Coastal Roots educators to integrate climate science into the farm's educational initiatives through our Climate Kids program, developing engaging activities focused on climate change and the food system. We invite you to check out their offerings and support the great work they are doing in our community.
