Fellowships are intended to provide individuals with compensated opportunities to become embedded with local organizations and support their efforts.

What is the funding range for fellowship opportunities?

Accepted Answer

Most fellowships are for $20,000 for 800 hours. However, this can vary by opportunity. This year’s opportunities will range from $10,000 - $60,000 USD.

What fellowships are available this Giving Cycle?

This year, we have two fellowship opportunities for applicants to consider. They are:

HBWC Fellowship
The Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy (“HBWC”) is seeking a fellow to work from March through October 2026, approximately 25 hours per week. The fellow will assist the organization with wetland and dune restoration projects, including planning and permitting, ecological monitoring, land stewardship, and volunteer coordination. The fellow will also assist with educational programming and public outreach with a focus on expanding outreach to indigenous and disadvantaged communities.
Working on-site in Huntington Beach, CA for the majority of the hours is required. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in uneven, muddy conditions. The ideal candidate is an individual pursuing a career in habitat restoration, environmental education, or similar field.

Climate Science Alliance Coastal Fellowship
The Climate Science Alliance Coastal Fellow will support our team's efforts to advance coastal co-stewardship in Southern California through relationship building, and convening and training experiences. The Fellow will become embedded into the Alliance team and will support, guide, and lead varying aspects of our coastal programs. 
The Fellow must be located in San Diego County and have experience working with both Tribes and coastal managers. Additionally, experience working with San Diego County Tribes specifically, as well as the California State Coastal Conservancy and/or California Department of Fish and Wildlife, is a plus.
