Held on April 20th, 2024, the Pauma Tribal Farms 5K and Gathering provided programming and resources to over 200 local Native American participants and families.

Funding from the Small Grants Program helps support an apprentice and the lead farmer at Paradise Tribal Farm to work together once a week for three months to co-create a thriving agricultural community.

On October 5, 2024 the Los Coyotes Band of Cahuilla & Cupeño Indians hosted their first annual Traditional Gathering at the Los Coyotes Campground. The event included a 5K run, bird singing, craft vendors, food booths, and games.

The ‘ataaxum Pomkwaan team hosted “We Are Sacred: Gathering of Native Americans (GONA) 2024” hosted on the homelands of the Los Coyotes Band of Cahuilla and Cupeno Indians. The 3-day gathering welcomed over 30 young adults who, with the support of dozens of facilitators from southern California reservation areas and organizations, engaged in activities that strengthened their sense of self-identity and supported healing.

Funding provided by the Small Grants Program supports the launch of this initiative through stipends for Indigenous knowledge holders to advise on the project, for the creation of equitable pathways in academia, purchase of a computer for 3D modeling, transportation to and from observation sites, and food to support the team.

This project will produce an ESRI story map about the endangered black abalone.

The Binational Working Group funds will kick-start an integrative, efficient, long-term, and sustainable restoration effort by organizing meetings, workshops, and diving trips with local fishers and scuba diving clubs.

This project will install two Chronologs® in Bahía de San Quintín (BSQ). Chronologs are a monitoring tool that have a fixed frame where visitors to a natural area can place their cell phones on the frame and take a photo.
