I am a small shrub that provides an important food source for wildlife. My yellow, tubular flowers have a sweet or spicy odor that attracts hummingbirds, bees, and sometimes butterflies, all of which drink my nectar. My edible fruit, which ranges in color from yellowy orange to black, is eaten by many birds, small mammals, and even humans. Once established, I am adaptable to a variety of conditions, including fluctuating moisture and warming temperatures, which helps me to survive in changing climates. I grow quickly and spread through underground stems, which allows me to help stabilize the soil and prevent erosion during heavy rains. Even though I am adaptable, I can still be stressed by extreme heat, long times of drought, or sudden environmental changes. This may mean I have less flowers and smaller fruit to support the wildlife around me.

Soy un arbusto pequeño que proporciona una fuente importante de alimento para la vida silvestre. Mis flores amarillas y tubulares tienen un olor dulce o picante que atrae colibríes, abejas y, a veces, mariposas, quienes beben mi néctar.
