The Climate Science Alliance participated in the annual Earth Day event hosted by the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians, engaging with community members through hands-on science and art activities.
On Saturday, May 4th, the Climate Science Alliance participated in the annual Earth Day event hosted by the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians. The event gave the Alliance and other partners the opportunity to engage with community members on the topic of sustainability.
Our staff, as well as Climate Kids Ambassadors from Mission Bay High School, provided booth visitors the opportunity to learn about climate change and the effects being felt by carnivores native to the San Diego region. Attendees were able to participate in a hands-on science activity which allowed them to become scientists and make observations about different carnivore species like the Gray Fox, Cougar, and Bobcat. We discussed ways they could help the Earth and wildlife and many made commitments such as reducing wildfire risk and using less electricity in our art activity.
