The Climate Science Alliance recently partnered with the NSF Center for Aerosol Impacts on Chemistry of the Environment to host a Climate Kids Educator Workshop at the Elementary Institute of Science for formal and informal educators from San Diego and Mexico. The purpose of this workshop was to train educators on the Climate Science Alliance’s newest Traveling Trunk - Climate Science & Atmospheric Chemistry.
The Climate Science & Atmospheric Chemistry Traveling Trunk is designed to help students gain a better understanding of the current science behind atmospheric chemistry, the impact of aerosols on climate and public health, and how scientists are working to better understand the issues that we face at the intersection of these topics. The hands-on science activities, storytelling, and art materials in this trunk specifically target K-12 grade students based on Next Generation Science Standards. This trunk brings to life aerosols - one of the most poorly understood components of Earth’s atmosphere - and their impact on our lives and the changing climate, while inspiring and encouraging students to do their part to help protect the earth.
Educators in the Climate Kids workshop were able to connect with the trunk materials and better understand how to adapt them to their classrooms and informal education institutions. Thank-you to all who joined!
