In early Spring, the Climate Science Alliance celebrated its 10th birthday with 70+ partners at the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians’ Government Center. We were founded with the simple belief: The people connected to a place are the ones with the power to shape its future. Over birthday cake, laughter, and discussion, we spent the day celebrating the people of the Alliance and our decade of partnerships, collaboration, and friendship. The Climate Science Alliance was founded 10 years ago on a simple belief: The people connected to a place are the ones with the power to shape its future. We envision a future filled with hope and empowerment. A future where you, with the lived experiences and identities you bring, can identify and solve complex climate issues in your community.
In the early days of Spring, over 70 Climate Science Alliance partners came together at the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians’ Government Center to celebrate a decade of partnerships, collaboration, and friendship. After hearing from Executive Director Amber Pairis and Director of Community Resilience Althea Walker, partners wrote down special memories and words of gratitude for their fellow Alliance partners as part of an interactive art experience. Before coming together for birthday cake, partners circled up to welcome in the year ahead—sharing exciting efforts across the region and identifying ways to support one another. From community-led approaches to coastal resilience, to identifying more ways to come together at convenings like this, the discussions were centered around hope and action, and we’re excited for what the coming years will bring.
The day was filled with hope and joy, and we’re so thankful for the time we spent together. We’d like to send a special thank you to our partners at the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians for hosting us in your beautiful space.
