Recientemente, Anna Lucia tuvo la oportunidad de visitar la isla de Cedros en Baja California para impartir talleres de cambio climático y seguridad acuática a niños y jóvenes de la isla. Del 17 al 20 de septiembre del 2020, tuve la oportunidad de viajar a la isla de Cedros, la isla más grande de las siete islas del océano Pacífico de Baja California.
Fui invitada por la subsecretaría de Turismo de la Secretaría de Economía Sustentable y Turismo de Baja California, con el objetivo de impartir talleres de cambio climático y seguridad acuática a niños y jóvenes cedreños, atendiendo a las acciones de la subsecretaría orientadas a fomentar una cultura turística sustentable, donde la educación ambiental y acuática tienen un eje central en vida de las comunidades receptoras de turismo.
Cómo parte del programa dentro de la Climate Science Alliance, Climate Kids México, fue sumamente inspirador, satisfactorio e importante estar cerca de los los niños y jóvenes, y tener la oportunidad de hablarles sobre los retos de un planeta cambiante que requiere de nuestras acciones orientadas a mitigar el calentamiento global, adaptarnos, ser innovadores y dar un respiro a la biodiversidad.
Desde el 2006, colaboro con Out of the Boat Swim, lo que me trajo en junio de 2019 a isla de Cedros con los salvavidas de la Isla. Desde entonces, formamos un vínculo especial que espero prospere en dar continuidad a los proyectos de seguridad acuática para la isla y su comunidad, y en especial a los niños que requieren de toda nuestra energía y sabiduría para formarlos en amor y respeto hacia el océano, proyectando estos valores a sus vidas y relaciones en comunidad así como el resto de los seres vivos del planeta.
Cabe destacar que la riqueza endémica de flora y fauna de isla de Cedros, además de su belleza paisajística aunado a la calidez de su gente crean potencialidades turísticas para la gestión de un desarrollo económico sustentable proyectado en el turismo de naturaleza y aventura. En este sentido, colaboré con la subsecretaría de Turismo, impartiendo un curso de iniciación a guía de naturaleza, pues como licenciada en turismo y guía de naturaleza y aventura he comprobado que para conservar y proteger requerimos además de conocer, conectar con la naturaleza.

On September 17 2020, I had the opportunity to spend three days visiting Cedros Island, the largest island of the seven islands on the Pacific coast of Baja California.
I was invited by the Undersecretary of Tourism from the Baja California Department of Sustainable Tourism and Economy with the objective of hosting workshops on climate change and water safety to the kids and teens of Cedros Island, addressing the department’s goals of fostering a sustainable tourism culture, where environment and aquatic education play a central role in the lives of members communities that receive tourism.
As part of the Climate Kids Mexico program within the Climate Science Alliance, it was extremely inspiring, satisfying, and important to be close to the children and have the opportunity to talk about the challenges around a changing planet that require us to take action focused towards mitigating global warming, adapting to climate change, becoming innovators, and giving respite to biodiversity.
Since 2006, I have collaborated with Out of the Boat Swim, which brought me to Cedros Island in 2019 with some of the island’s lifeguards. Since then, we have formed a special connection that I hope succeeds in giving continuity to projects of water safety for the island and its community. In particular to the children who require all of our energy and wisdom to shape them in love and respect towards the ocean, shaping these values into their lives and community relationships as well as all living beings on the planet.
It is worth mentioning that the endemic richness of the flora and fauna of Cedros Island, in addition to its beautiful landscape combined with the warmth of its people, creates tourism potential for the management of a sustainable economy designed around nature and adventure tourism.
