Climate Science Alliance team members and partners represent at the 2023 Tribal EPA & U.S. EPA Region 9 Conference hosted by the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on October 24-26, 2023 with the theme being, “Mutt Peyii Uumirrp” - This Land We Love.

Climate Science Alliance team members, Amber Pairis, Althea Walker, Will Madrigal Jr., and Joel Arellano, joined San Diego State University partner Dr. Megan Jennings in hosting the session, “Advancing a Paradigm Shift in How Climate Action is Visioned, Led, & Implemented”, to collect feedback on the Southern California Montane Forests Conservation Strategy. Our session brought together over 100 individuals from across the region to share about the vulnerabilities in stewarding and conserving montane forests, priorities to build resilience, and stewardship practices that should be at the forefront of conservation efforts.

The Climate Science Alliance thanks the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians for welcoming us to their community and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for their partnership on this regional gathering. To learn more about the conference, please visit here.
