Climate Science Alliance team member, Will Madrigal Jr. (Tribal Capacities and Partnerships Program Manager), was a featured speaker at SDGE’s 5th Annual Wildfire Safety Fair held at the Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center on August 26th, 2023. Will had the opportunity to speak with attendees at the event and share about the importance of traditional and cultural fire, highlighting Alliance programs that support these efforts including Stewardship Pathways and the Indigenous Fire, Forestry, and Fuels Crew.

This event was the first in a series of in-person events to learn how to prepare and protect your family and property form extreme fire events — and get safety tips from SDG&E and various regional partners. Participants learned about stocking an emergency kit, developing an emergency plan, designing or modifying the space around your home to resist wildfire, climate change and extreme fire, and more.
