Climate Kids Partnerships Expanding into North County

The Alliance’s Climate Kids Program has boomed in recent months, and has started new partnerships in North County. Climate Kids-Carmel Del Mar began in September and Climate Kids-Jefferson Elementary in Carlsbad launched in November. Students received a hands-on science lesson from Alliance Director, Dr. Amber Pairis, about climate change and looked at how species may have to adapt to a changing climate. Climate Kids-Carmel Del Mar also partnered with graduate students from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography as they shared their research on ocean acidification and the impacts posed to local marine species.

Both programs focused on climate change impacts to marine species with hands-on science, field trips, art projects, and interactive assemblies being shared to over 1,000 students.

Special thanks to our partners, StayCool 4 Grandkids and the California Coastal Conservancy, for helping make this new endeavor a success!
