Indigenous peoples from across Southern California who are interested in the Stewardship Pathways Program are encouraged to apply. While the training application process will prioritize Indigenous peoples from across Southern California, we encourage all who are interested in the training programs to apply.
No formal experience or background is necessary to be considered for these training pathways. Those under the age of 18 are also welcome with the consent of a guardian.
Stewardship Pathways is a collaborative effort that thrives on partner support. We welcome all partners who want to host, lead, or get involved in any way. Please email us directly at info@climatesciencealliance.org and we will get back to you shortly.
No. All pathway trainings and workshops are tuition-free for accepted participants. Additionally, support stipends are available on a limited basis to support partners who face financial barriers to attendance (travel costs, childcare costs, etc.).
We would be happy to discuss any questions or ideas you may have. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at info@climatesciencealliance.org
We will work with you to estimate your costs and prioritize providing you with the funding upfront. This approach is part of a trust-based philanthropy model, allowing recipients to use the funds as needed without the requirement to submit receipts.
No, funds are not limited to attending only Southern California convenings, but out of state travel will require an extra process. We will work closely with the grantee to ensure attending is not a barrier.
Non-profit (or fiscally sponsored) Tribal-serving or Tribal-led organizations, Tribal governments, or non-profit (or fiscally sponsored) organizations with established partnerships with Tribal and/or Indigenous entities/communities are eligible to apply. We are committed to supporting Indigenous peoples regardless of federal designation.
Example projects led by our Technical Advisors include, but are not limited to:
Community workshops led by local leaders specific to a topic important to them related to land stewardship, cultural or natural resources, and coastal re-connection.
Establishing and building capacity for an Indigenous-led fire crew.
Community events that focused on health, wellness, community, ecological stewardship, food sovereignty, language re-vitalization, and cultural connections.
A large portion of funding is provided upfront, with a contract outlining the scope of work. Typically, a percentage is given initially, with the remainder released upon reaching certain milestones.
