The Climate Science Alliance would like to extend a huge thank you to San Diego Public Libraries for providing us with 500+ unwanted books for our Climate Kids program! Our newest Climate Kids art project is the creation of a nature journal in an unwanted book. Kids get the opportunity to re-purpose books that were destined for the recycling bin by using them as nature journals. On our field trips, we encourage students to draw pictures and diagrams of what they see outdoors in their nature journals. We provide them with oil pastels to color over the words in the books to make them their own. The kids love the freedom to draw what they see in nature and are excited to take their new nature journals home with them!
Special thanks to the following libraries for their generous donations:
Linda Vista Library
Logan Heights Library
Mission Hills Library
North Park Library
Otay Mesa Library
Pacific Beach Library
Serra Mesa Library
University Heights Friends of the Library
And an even bigger thank you to the amazing environmental champion Librarian, Laura Anthony at the Rancho Bernardo Library for facilitating our connection to libraries across San Diego!
