CSA's Dr. Amber Pairis Serves as a Judge in 2017 Congressional Art Competition

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

This year, Climate Science Alliance Director, Dr. Amber Pairis, was selected by Congressman Scott Peters to serve as one of the judges of the art competition. Pairis represented the Climate Science Alliance in providing input to select the winners of this competition.

The winners from the 52nd Congressional District (Rep. Scott Peters) were on display at The San Diego Watercolor Society Art Gallery from April 12 to 20, 2017. Photos of the art can be seen on Congressman Peters' Facebook page here. More information about the 2017 Congressional Art Competition can be found on the U.S. House of Representatives website.
