CSA Partners With San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy

The San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy aims to protect and restore the resources of San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve, its watershed, and related ecosystems for the benefit of current and future generations. Since July 2017, the Climate Science Alliance has been partnering with the Lagoon to bring new climate resources to programming, education staff and docents. In October 2017, we partnered with the Conservancy to host a special Climate Kids Assembly at Capri Elementary School in Encinitas where kids learned about climate change through song and movement.

CSA staff worked with the Conservancy to create a personalized climate change education training for naturalists this past February. The education training covered current climate change science, proven climate change communication and education strategies (NNOCCI), and examples of climate change integration in informal education. Through brainstorming how to incorporate climate topics most relevant to current programs, staff and naturalists left with the tools to spread climate change literacy in the South Coast. A thank you to our partners at the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy and to SDG&E for supporting our work together.
