The Climate Science Alliance team was honored and excited to join our partners at Planet Pala to connect with the community of the Pala Band of Mission Indians at the Honoring Traditions Gathering 2021. Climate Science Alliance team members Diane Terry and Ana Lutz-Johnson provided hands-on activities for Tribal youth including Climate Kids Bingo, Climate Kids Scavenger Hunts, and Colors of Conservation Coloring Books. Youth and community members enjoyed learning about local species that are being impacted by climate change and different actions they could take to help protect them. All of these activities and more can be found for free on the Climate Kids Connects website.
For those interested in building or expanding a career focused on native plant restoration or wildland firefighting and monitoring, the Alliance team shared information about the Resilient Restoration Stewardship Pathways Program and how to stay connected for updates.
Planet Pala provided the community with an interactive opportunity to create and customize their own Gourd Rattle. To learn more about Planet Pala and their work with Pala youth, please visit: http://ped.palatribe.com/planet-pala/.
