Climate Science Alliance Shares the Buzz on Climate Change and Pollinators

The Climate Science Alliance was excited to bring interactive climate science lessons to San Diego youth throughout November. Partnering with the Elementary Institute of Science, Alliance team member Ana Lutz-Johnson led discussions and activities focused on climate change, its impacts on pollinators, and what we can do to help.

The Climate science Alliance was excited to bring interactive climate science lessons to San Diego youth through the month of November. Partnering with the Elementary Institute of Science, Alliance team member Ana Lutz-Johnson connected with students participating in Steps-2-STEM, a free STEM program for 4th-grade students in the San Diego Unified School District Lincoln cluster.

Students participated in discussions centered around climate change, impacts on pollinators, and what we can do to help. Through hands-on activities, such as “Greenhouse Gas Tag”, which simulates the greenhouse gas effect on earth’s atmosphere and climate, and storytelling through artistic expression, students applied their new knowledge in the classroom.

Interested in bringing similar climate lessons and activities to the classroom? Check out our Climate Kids Traveling Trunks. Each trunk includes background information, lesson plans, powerpoints, activities, and materials aligned to NGSS to increase climate literacy for K-12th grade youth.

Thank you to the Elementary Institute of Science for the opportunity to connect with young community members and share our vision for a more resilient and hopeful future.
