As the Descendants United for Nature, Adaptation, and Sustainability (DUNAS) project wraps up its summer of dune restoration and monitoring, the team has now pivoted to the building of an interpretive boardwalk trail within the restoration site. The goals of this trail are to provide visitors an opportunity to tour the restored area and learn about ecosystem restoration, climate adaptation, and conservation, to tell the the story of DUNAS, and to showcase the restoration results to leaders and funders that can support future restoration and replication in other areas around Puerto Rico. Mientras que el equipo del proyecto Descendientes Unidos por la Naturaleza, la Adaptación y la Sostenibilidad (DUNAS) está concluyendo su trabajo de verano de restauración y monitoreo de las dunas, el equipo también está empezando a enfocarse en la construcción de un sendero de madera interpretativo dentro del sitio de restauración. El objetivo del sendero es proporcionarles a los visitantes la oportunidad de realizar un recorrido por el área restaurada y aprender sobre la restauración ecosistémica, adaptación climática y conservación, contar la historia de DUNAS y destacar los resultados de restauración ante líderes y donadores que puedan apoyar futuros esfuerzos de restauración y replicación en otras áreas de Puerto Rico. ¡Vea los esfuerzos iniciales de la construcción del sendero de madera abajo!
This project is made possible through a 2018 Climate Adaptation Fund grant from the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) entitled, “Puerto Rico se Levanta: Learning from extreme events to build and sustain a resilient future".
